Cover

As i was working with the same photographer Dionne used throughout the project, at this stage we have created a good line in idea communication. As it was a straight forward shoot it was mainly about exploring and playing with ways we could create a visually effective final image. We both made suggestions throwing around ideas that in tern created some interesting shots both with the hands, lighting and the painting. I found the outcome was more than what i expected the image to look like, Dionne understood what i was trying to create and as she knew the style of imagery i have been creating throughout was able to create an image that is coherent to the inside of the project book depicting the same dark atmospheric lighting.

I began playing with the typography overlaying the images to get a better idea of what the final product would look like on a variations of different images. I was drawn instantly to the first image although having show another student they were adamant that third image down on the left was the most eye catching and interesting. Essentially as it is the cover of the book and the main page that the audience will be buying into getting this right was critical. Having also asked my mentor for her opinion who is also the target market for the book she without me suggesting anything instantly said the first one was the most aesthetically interesting and drew her in instantly. This again has made me realise i need to trust my creative judgment more, going with my initial gut.

Trialling another graphic for the back page with the idea that the silhouette of Crewe is shadowing over Sara. I don't feel this worked as the image underneath the silhouette is hard to define it dose not sit right in the understanding of what the image is. I will further develop the back page In coherence with the front cover creating an all round pleasing visual.
